Who will be in my Family Discipleship Group?
You'll have the opportunity to gather 2-3 parents of your choice, plus one experienced Christian couple whose children have grown. This multi-generational approach provides both peer support and wisdom from those who've walked this path before.
Where does the inspiration for Family Discipleship Groups originate?
Family Discipleship Groups were inspired by John Wesley's band groups which were intimate gatherings of about five people who supported each other through regular confession and spiritual accountability. We've adapted this historic practice for modern parents seeking to nurture their family's faith.
What happens during Family Discipleship Group meetings?
Meetings typically last 1½ to 2 hours and focus on authentic sharing through the guided questions like:
-
“How are you really doing?”
-
“What are your struggles and successes as a parent?”
-
How might the Holy Spirit or scriptures be speaking to you about the spiritual needs of you and your family?”
What happens after the
fall session?
You'll meet with your pastor to discuss your experience and explore opportunities to continue leading parent groups in your church community. The decision to continue will be made in partnership with your pastoral leadership.
